WELCOME TO THE FAMILY
Last fall my boyfriend make a huge step and invited me to his sister’s wedding in Serbia. He is Serbian, and his parents live there, so this was to be the first time I met them. From what I knew of his parents, I knew that this would be a tough meeting. I was to be the first woman he’d ever brought home, and he was the first son, and a mommas boy. His mother seemed to be extremely fashion-forward, so I needed the perfect shoes to make a statement at the wedding. I scoured Last Chance and found nothing. I didn’t have time for the Internet, as I was invited pretty last minute. I traveled to Nordstrom Rack where I spent hours (it felt) in the aisles looking at every single pair of shoes to make sure none was overlooked. My budget was small, but I came across an elegant Prada box these shiny beauties perfectly tucked inside. I knew I would buy them no matter the cost. Especially when I slipped them on my feet and felt like Cinderella, sparkling feet and all. Price tag $350. I gulped and hoped my debit card wouldn’t be declined. It wasn’t. Moral of the story: I found shoes perfect enough that made eating ramen for a month totally worth it. AND, the shoes were a huge hit at the wedding (as was I).
